Welcome to the Mario Cipollini Experience

What a fantastic weekend. Granted the weather wasn’t completely on our side but besides that the first ever Mario Cipollini Gran Fondo powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport was an event to remember and a great success.

Saturday evening saw almost 130 dinner guests enjoy a hugely informative and entertaining interview session with Mario Cipollini interspersed with a sheer endless row of autograph and photo requests followed by a very amusing after dinner speech from Matt Stephens. While some guests decided to get the maximum sleep for the next day’s ride, others enjoyed a drink or two at the hotel bar.

Early Sunday morning almost 150 riders set-off accompanied by Mario Cipollini to tackle the 115km long Mario Cipollini Gran Fondo. Rain on some parts of the course and slightly windy conditions made this ride a real challenge for everyone but due to the extraordinary support out on course and the fantastic feed stations and the fact that riders were sharing the road with the man himself made the Mario Cipollini Gran Fondo an event to remember.

The feedback has been fantastic and we are already looking at the Mario Cipollini Gran Fondo for 2013.

We would like to thank the riders for making it a fantastic event, MCipollini distributor Paligap and Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport for their outstanding support and Mario Cipollini for making it a truly memorable experience.

Welcome to the Mario Cipollini Gran Fondo, a unique addition to the UK sportive calendar. This event is not only one of the most enjoyable and inspirational rides in the South West of England but it is a unique opportunity to rub shoulders with a living legend of the road racing world whilst enjoying a level of hospitality fitting for the peloton.

On the weekend of the 21-22nd of April 2012 former World Champion and Italian road racing legend Mario Cipollini will come to Redwood Lodge in Bristol to both ride the Cipollini Gran Fondo the following morning (22nd April 2012) and to spend time with the riders during the pre-ride gala dinner.

Further to Mario’s time on and off the bike at the Cipollini Gran Fondo the riders will experience the most exclusive sportive backup the UK has to offer.

The Mario Cipollini Gran Fondo is designed to accommodate all levels of riders – from occasional road rider to the hardened sportive regular and has a well thought through support structure that will help every rider across the finish line (see Event page for details).
